  • and Friday, October 18th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm (during Move Night)
New This Fair – eWallet
  • Scholastic Book Fair’s new digital payment option is a great alternative to sending students to school with cash. Parents can easily create a Book Fair eWallet with a credit card and set a spending limit for their student. After the fair, any unused funds are released back to the cardholder. It’s so easy! You can set up an eWallet for your student now using information found on our Terra Linda Book Fair page.

Parent/Guardian Information

  • Terra Linda will receive 50% of sales in Scholastic Dollars to buy books for the school!
  • Parents/Guardians: If visiting the fair during the day, a visitor badge, is required. Please check in at the office.
  • Teachers will set aside books you can purchase and donate to classrooms, if you wish.  When purchasing your own books at the fair, you can also chose to contribute additional money, in any amount, that will be used to buy books for the school.
  • If you cannot make it to the Book Fair, you can also purchase books online: 10/9 – 10/22 and 25% of your purchase will go to the school. Look for details on our Terra Linda Book Fair page.
Volunteers
  •  We are still in need of volunteers to help make the Book Fair a success.  We especially need help from 8:00 – 8:30.  No past experience needed. If you are a current approved volunteer you can sign up to help here – Book Fair Help.

Green Team Update

Last spring, several dedicated Terra Linda students took it upon themselves to fundraise and purchase durable silverware to replace the plastic silverware being used in the cafeteria. Lately, the cafeteria staff has noticed some of this silverware accidentally getting thrown out. A gentle reminder to students about not throwing away silverware at lunch time would be great.
Movie Night
Is Movie Night on your calendar? 🍿 The PTC will be presenting Toy Story 4 on Friday, October 18th, 6-8pm. The Book fair will be in full swing too! 📚 Don’t miss out. To infinity & beyond!

Running ClubRunning Club

Terra Linda Running Club is off and running this year!  The first day of running our students ran 89.5 miles and finished September with 839.75 miles!!  This is like running to Sequoia National Park!

What is Running Club?
Terra Linda Running Club is PTC sponsored and volunteer organized.  Every student is a member even though participation is optional.  TLRC takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch recess.  We have a group of committed volunteers that keep track of laps, hand out prizes, and cheer on runners!

Can my child run extra?
YES!  This year we are encouraging every student to track the laps they run during P.E., brain breaks with their teacher, and laps during other recesses.  We are also going to count miles from any race that students do outside of school!

We aren’t going to track a few things like fitbit counters, sports practice laps, or hikes on the weekends.  We really want to encourage kids to choose to run on OUR track and not get distracted with too many other activities.

Prizes?!
We have a reward system for every runner!  When students complete their first mile they are awarded a wristband.  They then receive a chain and a token at 5k (3 miles) and tokens at other milestones!  We also give out a special token once a month to every participant.  Look for pumpkins in October!  And for our kids that really go the distance we have a ribbon at a Half Marathon (13 miles) and a medal at a Marathon (26 miles).

Cast your VOTE

The Beaverton School Board on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 unanimously adopted a resolution to place a five-year Local Option Levy Renewal on the May 15, 2018 ballot. This is a vote-by-mail election.

If approved, the Local Option Levy Renewal would allow Beaverton schools to preserve 300 teaching positions, maintain class sizes, and help ensure students are prepared for post-high school success. The levy renewal costs $1.25 per $1,000 assessed property value. Homes with the median assessed value of $238,000 would continue to pay less than $25 per month. The levy could raise approximately $31-$35 million a year.

In 2013, voters approved a five-year local option levy to restore teaching positions that had been cut due to repeated state funding shortfalls. The levy has raised $128 million, and 100% has remained in Beaverton schools to fund approximately 300 teaching positions and reduce class sizes. In the 2017-2018 school year, 158 of these positions were allocated to Beaverton’s elementary schools, 53 to middle schools, 70 to high schools, and 18 to options schools. The current levy pays for five full time teachers at Terra Linda.

PTC Club and Event Happenings:

Congratulations to Ms. Schroeder’s First Grade Class!

Ms. Schroeder’s first grade class won the $100 prize for class participation at the Jog-A-Thon (kudos to Mrs. Kohl’s kindergarten class for tying)!

After winning, the class took a vote and conducted research to determine which animal would make the best class pet. Students brainstormed, researched online, and wrote letters to PetSmart to get answers to their questions.

After a review of all their information, students chose a Winter White Dwarf hamster and aptly named her Snowball. Students watched a video and read books on hamster care before preparing a formal class agreement to ensure Snowball is treated well.

Snowball has only been a Terra Linda Tiger for one week but she’s received a very warm and ecstatic welcome. Snowball has been a great lesson on motivation and reward, research, and responsibility!

THANK YOU to Ms. Schroeder, her students, and parents for working hard to raise money for our school!

Beaverton School District Clothes Closet

The BSD Clothes Closet is a volunteer service organization that provides free clothing for children, in need, in grades K-12, who reside in the District attendance area. It is staffed by Beaverton School District parent group volunteers. Students can find school-type clothing such as: jeans, t-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, warm coats, socks and underwear.

We wanted to combine Terra Linda Movie Night with an opportunity to give back to our community. Please bring new socks and/or underwear and place them in the lobby bins at Movie Night. There’s currently a high demand for larger sizes that fit ages 13-18.

If you are unable to attend Movie Night but would like to donate, we will have a bin available for drop off in the school lobby, 1/22-1/31.

Family Movie Night

The Terra Linda PTC would like to invite you to a fun family movie night on Friday, Jan. 19th @ 6:30pm

Entrance is FREE and put on by the PTC.

If you’d like to donate to the BSD Clothes Closet, bring new socks and/or underwear and place them in the lobby bins at Movie Night.

PLEASE NOTE:
